My mother used to say, “Herbal Medicine is as old as the hills!” What she was talking about is the fact that every culture had plant-based remedies.

 

Herbal Medicine Vs Food

 Everything in nature has energy. It’s that static that gets you when you walk on the carpet. Some of my clients work at Public Utilities in their area and speak of the earth’s electro-magnetic field. Plants have it too.

Onions, for instance, are great for boosting the immune system and adding flavor to foods. They are sweet and spicy in taste. What you add to food and what we use in medicine are different.

It is how they are cultivated not the type of onion. Both can be green onions for instance. The medicinal harvest will be less in savory flavors and contain more naturally occurring chemicals from the earth, [minerals, antioxidants, micronutrients] that ‘cool’ a sore throat or help stop cough. The long green stemmed varieties you and I place on the table for eating or add to our favorite dishes bring aroma and some sweetness.

The food variety contains the same minerals, antioxidants, and micronutrients just less.

Herbal Medicine A Concentrated Food

Over-the-counter herbals often are of inferior quality but can help a little. I always recommend professional grade that are third-party tested for quality. You need less when you get quality. This saves money.
